March 10 – Fort Myers to Fort Lauderdale. Today is a leisurely day. We're going to drive about 35 miles south to Naples to visit a Canadian couple that we met on a cruise in 2004. We've sailed with them several time since but haven't seen them since our trip to Canada in 2007 when we picked up the last four states we needed to complete our 50 states visited. He's English, she's Canadian and them met when she was working in England during WWII. They lived in England until he retired and sold his business and they moved to Canada. They live in Ontario but come to Naples, Florida for the worst part of the winter.
Once again as we ate breakfast in the hotel a heavy rainstorm came across, moving fast but not much lightning. We waited for that to clear and then headed to Naples. We spent a nice afternoon visiting and hashing over old times and catching up on what we've been up to. They are 87 and 88 years old and have a long cruise planned for this fall. As long as they can they are going to keep going.
We went out to dinner and then Diana and I drove across Alligator Alley to Fort Lauderdale where we are going to stay in the Embassy Suites for two nights prior to sailing.
